Why You Should Scrap the Holiday & Go For Days Out Instead

At this time of the year, we’re all starting to think about the holidays that we want to be able to go on. But at the same time, life is busy – not to mention expensive.

So saving up to go on a big family holiday family abroad can often feel like a lot! If the pressure of not only shopping for the perfect family holiday (that might just end in tears anyway) but paying for it is getting you down, why not scrap it?

This doesn’t mean that you have to completely go without, but you might just find that family days out would work out better for you this year. And if you’re not really sure what to do or where you go, here are some ideas to inspire you.

The Seaside

First of all, why not take to the beach, UK style? As much as British beaches aren’t quite the same as the tranquil overseas version, they can still provide a lot of fun for your kids.

Maybe you want to go for the day to enjoy fish and chips by the seafront and play in the arcades? It could be just what you all need on a nice summer’s day.

Seasonal Shows

Next up, we have the different seasonal shows that happen around the year.

You’ll find that there will be notable events that happen throughout the summer, different showground style events, fairs, and occasions that you might want to celebrate or have fun at.

Not only will there be events going on in your area, but even different interest events that you might want to travel a bit further too.

Day Trips

Maybe what would work for you is to head out on some day trips to different sights around the country.

Of course, you may not want to go miles away for this, but if there are some locations near to you that you’ve always wanted to see, or some sights that you’d like to be able to see, this could be perfect for you.

From historical attractions to gardens to museums, there will always be a ton of things you can see.

Theme Parks

Then we have the theme parks. This might not be everybody’s cup of tea but they can make for fun days out.

It might be that you want to think about packing up for the day and heading to some of the country’s most-known locations?

You could even save up for deals online for this too if you don’t want to spend a lot of money, there are coupons that can make it more affordable.

Camping

Finally, as much as this one isn’t technically a day trip, it could still be just what you want.

If you love the idea of spending a few nights in rural locations or in some adventurous places in the country (maybe even near the day trips, seaside, seasonal shows, or theme parks!), you could think about packing up a tent and making a weekend (or week) of it.

Plus, what kid doesn’t love to go camping? It could be the break that you all needed this year!
