Ways to Add Style to Your Kitchen Design

Whether you like cooking or not, you have to admit that having a nice kitchen is one of the greatest values of a modern home. Preparing meals for your family and guests is also a wonderful way to show these people how much you appreciate them, and doing that is always easier in an elegant kitchen. However, since so many people are confined to tiny apartments and small kitchen spaces, they have to think outside the box in order to make the most of their cooking area. If you too are looking for ways to add style to your kitchen, here are five ideas you should explore alongside checking out the kitchen trends for 2018

A new island

This is probably the best way to introduce a ton of style into your kitchen, but it’s not as popular as you’d think. The problem with kitchen islands is that most people think their kitchens are too small for a feature like this, and therefore drop the idea before even considering it.

However, even the smallest kitchens can accommodate a proper island, and it doesn’t have to be that huge after all. You can make one on your own, completely personalising it and making it work in the space you have. Kitchen islands are great for giving you more manoeuvring space and providing you with storage space for your pots, pans, utensils and other essentials you can’t imagine your kitchen without.

Organise the pantry

Another problem with small apartments is that they usually don’t have enough space for a decent pantry, so you have to improvise and find space for all your supplies somewhere else. What most people do, though, is find room for these things in the kitchen, usually by installing a corner rack or a small spice rack next to their fridge, truly using every inch of free space and adding more style to their kitchen.

While these are all good ideas for organising the pantry in the kitchen, it’s easy to take thing too far and end up with a cluttered kitchen space. Therefore, you have to be extra careful how many things you keep in there and try not to go overboard because you’ll just lose more space than you can save.

Think about new flooring

This is another complex renovation you have to invest quite a substantial amount of time and money into, and not every homeowner wants to do that. But, if your kitchen floor is crooked or slanted, you need to fix it as soon as possible and prevent major problems in the future.

When installing new flooring in the kitchen, most people opt for tiles as they’re the most versatile and elegant choice out there. Still, they can be rather cold, especially in the winter, so think about adding a warm rug as well – this will elevate your level of elegance and prevent you from catching a cold while preparing your meals.

Show off your cutting boards and knives

All home cooks are proud of their knives and want to tell the world what they can do with these, so they’re not afraid to show them off in their kitchen. This trend is quite popular at the moment, and you can see lots of knives and even cutting boards in modern kitchens, and these elements also elevate the overall style.

Cutting boards are usually made from quality wood or marble, and are therefore the perfect elements that can make your kitchen stylish, special and unusual. So, hang them around your kitchen or layer them on your counter top, and do the same with your knives, especially if you have an elegant knife block you can move from one place to another.

Flowers, plants and herbs

Not all people understand the philosophy behind keeping plants and flowers in their kitchens, feeling that these should be kept in the living room and dining room instead. However, you’d be surprised to learn that certain houseplants love being in the kitchen and really enjoy the air and the aroma of the kitchen space. Aloe vera, white jasmine and spider plant are just some of the plants that thrive in here, so consider adding a few of these to your kitchen as well.

But, if you really want to make your cooking area more elegant, you simply have to incorporate a couple of herbs as well. Just imagine having lots of cute little pots full of thyme, rosemary, coriander, basil, parsley and oregano all over your kitchen! Moreover, these herbs are an irreplaceable part of your cooking and can make every meal extra special, so bring these into your kitchen as soon as you can.

Making your kitchen nice and elegant shouldn’t be too hard, and all you need are a couple of ideas that will get you going. Take these into consideration, find which ones will suit you the most, and enjoy your new kitchen space!

  1. Definitely need to add new improvement in out kitchen. Like the idea of having herbs right at your hand reach and easily chop them. I know most people just go with a regular cutting board, but having an elegant knife board will add a nice touch to your kitchen. great read!
