#Blogtober17 Day 13 – Movies

Movies! So as you will know from my post yesterday i’m a bit of a romantic, so it’s no surprise that movies with a romantic theme feature heavily for me, so here are my top ten movies, I thought they were in no particular order, but actually they probably coincide with how many times I have watched them, number one is far too many to count! So here we go…
10. Twilight (all four movies)
I know it didn’t really come out when I was a teen, in fact I can remember a couple of Xene’s friends being quite obsessive over certain characters, but  I remember watching the first one whilst we were on holiday, so I already had a picture in my mind of what the characters looked liked, and it was the books that I loved even more than the films, I read all of them in about a week, so it made it’s way to number ten!
9Four Weddings and a Funeral
I was 18 when I first heard the Wet Wet Wet song ‘Love Is All Around’ and played it whilst I was DJ-ing at the holiday camp. I immediately fell in love with the song (along with the rest of the world). From the moment I sat down and watched the film I loved it, featuring some of my favourite actors and actresses, it’s one I have watched quite often!
8. Footloose (The original)
I love all of the music in footloose and the dancing, I was also surprised that the remake wasn’t too bad, I have been to see Footloose The Musical and it was brilliant, Gareth Gates was superb, and the entire crew was amazing, it’s a real feel good movie, with a great soundtrack.
7. Coyote Ugly
Another feel good movie with great songs and a love story with a happy ending, I may have danced on the bar a couple of times when I was working too!
6. Pretty Woman
I love Julia Roberts and who doesn’t love Richard Gere! This love story is wonderful and its a real rags to riches, with a modern twist.
5. Bridget Jones 1,2 & 3
I adored the first Bridget Jones, and the second was just as funny, I finally got to watch number 3 last month and that made me laugh just as much as the others , although no Hugh Grant! I imagine that’s how I would have ended up if I hadn’t met Asa!
4. Cocktail
I was a HUGE Tom Cruise fan when I was younger, he’s still looking pretty good now, what’s not to love, cocktail slinging, romance and sandy beaches, although I did get rather ill on ‘Sex On The Beach’ before!!
3. Top Gun
Following on with my Tom Cruise crush, my number three is Top Gun, LOVE this movie, who wouldn’t want a pilot to sweep you off your feet! I played the soundtrack to death when I was a teenager!
2. Ghost
My other crush was Patrick Swayze, mmm those eyes! So my number 2 is the very sad but romantic Ghost, featuring one of my all-time favourite songs Unchained Melody, I love this film, and its on my list to sit down and watch it with the girls, as I am trying to educate them on good films!
and at number 1, my all-time favourite film…
1.Dirty Dancing
I have watched this film SO many times, although it HAS to be the original, I put on the remake last month and got approximately 5 minutes into it before I switched off, some movies need to just be left as they are, and it also made me realise just how amazing Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Gray were in that movie. I LOVE the entire film (I probably know it word for word!) and the soundtrack is still one of my favourites, even now.
So there we have it, my top ten, do you agree, or do you have any I need to add ?

  1. I love Four Weddings and a Funeral and the first two Bridget Jones films, the others I either haven’t seen or am not fussed about! I’m more of a fifties/sixties film lover, my two favourites are Breakfast at Tiffany’s and It’s A Wonderful Life.
