10 reasons to holiday in Sicily with children

Asa and I have been discussing our next family holiday abroad, after reading this guest post, I think Sicily will certainly be in the running.

A Family Paradise.

When you think of Sicily, you immediately conjure up images of beauty, and Italian culture. Steeped in history and with a great transport system, Sicily can be a perfect holiday to take with a family. Here are 10 reasons to holiday in Sicily.

1 – Luxury.

With ease you can find beautiful accommodation, from stunning hotels to luxury villas in Sicily that can be found on sites such as Wishsicily.com. For example, the Villa Punta Secca  is a classic Sicilian villa, close to the sandy beaches of Sicily’s south east and almost on the doorstep of many of the film locations used for the popular inspector Montalbano series. Mount Etna is a beautiful famous volcano. You can visit this amazing site and take a cable car ride to gain some unbelievable views.

Go Island hopping around the Aeolian Islands, or do an outdoor adventure course at the Madonie adventure park.

7 – Castles.

Steeped in history, Sicily has several castles to visit such as the restored Castello Della Zisa.

8 – Nature.

See Flamingos on the Vendicari coast, walk around the colourful Park of Nebrodi or visit the large zoo Bioparco.

9 – Puppets.

Sicily is home to the International Puppet Museum which is an educational and fun day out, whatever the weather.

10 – Water.

Surrounded by water, Sicily has a high number of water activities to try. Boat trips, fishing and snorkelling are available just to name a few.

So as you can see Sicily is extremely family friendly. Go take a look for yourself, you wont be disappointed.
