Role Models: The Good, The Bad, The Silly

When you’re trying to find your way in life, it’s not always easy to know how to stay on the right track. It’s often the reason why so many of us benefit from having a role model. With someone to look up to, you can often ensure that you find yourself on the right career path. But, how do you go about finding one?

The Good

Is there someone in the industry you’re in (or want to be in) that you really admire? Even if they’re not attainable, it’s often good for you to have a role model that is a) a real person that is out there in the world paving their way, and b) on the path that you want to be on, showing you just how it’s done.

The Bad

It’s easy to idolize people that look like they’ve got everything! Money, cars, love, happiness, looks – it’s what we all want. But sometimes, people have got them for all the wrong reasons, or have used frowned upon ways of getting there. Reality stars and some celebrities all into this category, and they don’t always make for good role models.

The Silly

And finally, you’re going to want to make sure that you don’t use fictional characters for your role models – even the good ones. Because you have to remember that these people aren’t real. It’s easy to idolize your favorite TV characters or people in books, but their realities aren’t real in the slightest. The below infographic is enough to highlight that!
