OMG! Chocolate CAN be healthy!! #RealMumsAllBran

I, along with lots of other Mummy Bloggers have taken part in the All-Bran 5 Day Challenge.

I have to confess, if anyone had said to me two months ago that I would enjoy eating All Bran for breakfast I would have spat out my daily breakfast of one cup of tea at them!! I vividly remember my dear old Nan tipping a bowlful of brown stuff that to me resembled our Rabbit’s food!!

I don’t quite know what I was expecting to turn up in the box full of All Bran, but it certainly wasn’t these…

There were three very yummy sounding flavours, Red Berry Crunch, Golden Crunch and Chocolate Wheats, I think you will agree they don’t sound like my pre-conceived rabbit food cereal!!

If I am perfectly honest, I am not a great advert for the “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day” as I rarely even have time to pour myself a bowl, let alone actually sit and eat it!!

School mornings are utter chaos, from lost book bags to the latest vogue hair style (that’s just the 5 year old) the closest I get to a healthy breakfast is (no judgy pants please)…

Yes, my breakfast consists of a Cup of Tea (usually cold) with two sugars and a couple of biscuits that I can locate in the cupboard!! But, by the time I am in the car on the way to school my stomach feels like a washing machine, you know what I mean that rumbling, empty feeling.

Did you know that 90 to 95 per cent of the ‘happy’ hormone serotonin is made in the gut? A study* of 1,000 UK women found 52 per cent experience digestive complaints, such as bloating or gas, at least once a week. Eating fibre everyday is a simple remedy for happy tums.

And there was me thinking it was because I hadn’t had enough sleep or the children had stressed me out, when in fact it could just be my `Happy’ Hormone wasn’t being fed in my tummy.

So, I tried the Golden Crunch, but for me it was too sickly sweet, but that’s OK because my husband finished the entire box!!

Next was the Berries, I liked them, BUT my teenager daughter liked them even more, so I gave her the box, eventually…

The Chocolate one, looked far too much for my first meal of the day, but boy was I wrong, it has quickly became one of my favourite breakfast cereals EVER. It wasn’t too chocolatey and I preferred the little parcels, to the little balls in the other two cereals.

So…

After five days of All Bran I am happy to announce that my tummy no longer feels like a washing machine, more a fluffy pillow of happiness.

A couple of the children helped me to sum up my feelings of Breakfast time (no-one needs to see My tummy!)
