New Name Same Old Me!

For any of my long time readers (if there are any!) you will have noticed that I have a funky new header, with thanks to Sarah over at Kippers and Curtains and we have a new name !

When I first started blogging 7 years ago I had no idea it would become my full-time job, I had just given birth six weeks earlier to Tyrus and the lovely Jen over at My Mummys Pennies told me that I should start a blog to enlighten the world how this crazy, sleep deprived new mum coped with six children! If i’m honest I didn’t really put much thought into my name, other than Hex meant six, so Hex Mum was born… (Although Asa did keep saying everyone would think it was a blog about a witch mum!)

Two years later Viggo arrived so we added the plus one, and there we have been for the last five years Hex Mum Plus 1, a few years later we set up Big Family Little Adventures to document our Family Days out and Holidays for the larger family, which is pretty self explanatory, then, last year we started Big Dog Little Adventures to write all about our life with a Newfoundland Puppy.

Lately, if i’m honest I have sort of lost my way with this blog, the posts have been sporadic and I have not been feeling very happy with it. When I originally started it was supposed to be about how I manage looking after so many children, and that is what I want to get back to, I want my readers who have more than 2 or 3 children to know that I will (hopefully) provide them with solutions and tips on how to get 9 people out of the door in time for school, or a simple system for ensuring all appointments are attended and you don’t turn up on the wrong day (well, not often anyway!)

So, I am hoping that Big Family , (which we are) Organised Chaos (i’m not going to pretend for one second that we are completely organised and have strict routines!) will get back to becoming a valuable resource for families with a larger brood.

So, if you have any burning questions about life with seven children aged 4 to 20 (eek), ask away, who knows you may have it turned into a blog post! (I will of course credit you too)

So, as they say, This Is Me

  1. You do a fab job Mandi – I only have the 3 children but occasionally have a houseful when I’m looking after friends kids and can’t imagine life with 7! I’m so glad you like your banner. Sarah

    • Thankyou for your kind words and for the wonderful banner x
Although it doesn’t really feel like that many children anymore, especially as Viggo is going to be 5 this year, all that baby and toddler stuff is now behind me!

    • Lol, I have seven but technically the two eldest are adults, so my baby days are now gone, which makes me a little sad, but we’ve now moved onto the next chapter, the eldest leaving home for university was a huge deal!

  8. I love the design of your header! And the title is perfect too. I struggle sometimes with my two, I can’t imagine dealing with more kids although I love the idea of a big family. I’d say people would really appreciate some organisational tips cos I’m sure you have to have it all down pat to keep everyone on track.
