I chose this song as it was the one that I had playing in the church when we signed the register and walked down the aisle as husband and wife, i’ve always loved it, so that’s why it got put in the 31 songs, however i’ve already told you about Asa and myself at the beginning, so I thought about something else I love and that’s cookies!!

Maple Brown Sugar Cookies

Calling all cookie fans! These Maple Brown Sugar Cookies are going to have you skipping dinner and heading right to dessert. These chewy cookies have the sweetest taste, ever. They literally melt in your mouth with every single bite. If you’re looking for that perfect fall cookie, you don’t need to look any further than this one! 

What I love most about these cookies is that the sweet flavour comes from the addition of maple syrup and brown sugar. Combined, those two flavours give these cookies an amazing flavour that will have you coming back for more.

Ingredients to make Maple Brown Sugar Cookies 

 

  • 2 ⅓ C flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ C unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 C light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • ⅓ C pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp maple extract
  • 1 C Chopped Pecans

Maple Icing ingredients

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ⅓ C pure maple syrup
  • 1 C powdered sugar
  • 1 squeeze bottle

How to Make Maple Brown Sugar Cookies 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper.

Using a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt together.

Using a standing mixer, beat together the butter and brown sugar until combined and fluffy.

Beat in the egg until combined.

Beat in the maple syrup, vanilla, and maple extract until combined.

Gradually beat in the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.

Fold in the chopped pecans.

Using a small ice cream scooper, scoop out some dough onto the cookie sheet.

Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden on the edge.

Remove from oven and allow to cool for 15 minutes.

Place cookies onto a wire rack.

How to make the maple icing glaze

Using a small saucepan, whisk together until melted and combined the butter and maple syrup.

Once melted, remove and whisk in the powdered sugar until combined and smooth.

Pour the icing into the squeeze bottle.

Drizzle over cookies.

Allow icing to harden for 15 minutes before enjoying!
