ICE AGE: SCRATS NUTTY ADVENTURE PS4 REVIEW

All seven children are huge fans of games consoles, the older boys love the VR, and the younger ones have a tendency to fight over who’s turn it is on the PS4, both Xene and Lochlan have their own, which is fine when they are home, but not when they are both at uni!

Luckily Tyrus and Viggo have the same taste in games, so we can usually talk them both into playing together or taking turns trying to beat each other’s scores.

Last week they were sent Ice Age: Scrats Nutty Adventure to try out.

All of the children are huge Ice Age fans, and they love watching Scrat’s triumphs and tribulations throughout the films, so I was pretty sure this game would be a hit, and it was!

Ice Age: Scrats Nutty Adventure

In Ice Age: ScratNutty AdventureScrat, the calamitous sabre-toothed squirrel, will embark on an epic quest through classic Ice Age locations to recover his cherished acorn from the ancient Scratazon Temple. Only the legendary Crystal Nuts can unlock his prized possession, which Scrat will attempt to collect as he faces fierce prehistoric creatures, to return the missing relics to their rightful home. Players will guide Scrat through a perilous journey across icy terrains, raging geysers and burning lava. Explore adventure-packed locations to discover treasures that unlock special powers and help Scrat to jump higher, grab heavier objects and find every last treasure in this all-new Nutty adventure!

Here’s a little clip of what you can expect.

Scrat starts his adventure in the Scratazon temple – he has to collect all the Crystal nuts, but it’s not as easy as it sounds. He has to swim across lakes and waterfalls, crawl across walls, to collect all the nuts. Thankfully there’s an autosave feature, meaning when you go past a save block, and then you die, you go back to that point and not back to the beginning, this is quite an important feature in our family, especially if Tyrus is playing, he only has a short attention span, and although he does have a tendency to repeat things, it can be quite frustrating for his siblings if they are not able to continue!

Dotted throughout the game you will recognise certain characters from the films, which the older children enjoyed pointing out to Tyrus and Viggo when they were playing.

The graphics are excellent and you really feel like you are there in the game, the attention to detail is flawless and all of the children have enjoyed starting their nutty adventure with Scrat, who will be the first to complete it ?

I guess we will just have to wait and see.

If you have an Ice Age Fan in your household, it is definitely a great Christmas present, it’s available on X Box One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC,  you can purchase the game from Amazon Game Smyths Toys and The Game Collection
