How to Create a Memorable Summer for Your Family

Many parents struggle filling the summer holidays with meaningful activities. In case you are lucky enough to get the holidays you need during the summer, or you work for yourself, maybe run your business remotely, you can make the most out of the good weather and spend some quality time with your loved ones, so you can create memories together. The good news is that you don’t even have to spend a fortune. You can create the summer of your dreams on a budget. Find out how below.

To stay local and still make the most out of your time together, you can plan a staycation. The key is that you might not need to pay for accommodation, as you are going to stay close to home, unless you would like to enjoy a spa experience or a summer night at the museum. You can create a plan for the summer and visit places you never had time to see during school time. You will still need to take time off work, and automate your business, so you can enjoy the activities instead of worrying about what is going on in the office.

Heres how to get the most of your stay at home holiday

Visiting Relatives

Another cheap way of seeing more of the world is to visit your relatives. You can make it into a road trip, and see those people you only meet at weddings, family reunions, and funerals. Of course, you will need to get invited, and pushing it might not be a good idea. Wait until you get invited, or invite your family members first, so they can return the favor. If you have relatives who have a holiday home, you might even ask if you can stay for a while and you can offer either payment or your home in return, consider hiring a private jet from someone like Jettly to ensure you all get there safely together.

Taking a Culture Trip

Visiting ancient places and faraway lands might be a good idea when you want to teach your kids about traditions, culture, and the world in general. If your business is able to run itself, you can even go away for the whole summer to Asia and explore the wildlife, heritage, and the history of the place. Check out apartemen surabaya for some cost effective apartments, so you can save money on your accommodation and keep your family comfortable during the trip. Find a basecamp for your explorations, so you can travel and explore remote areas.

Educational Trips

No matter if you are a fan of homeschooling or not, it is important that you contribute toward your kids’ education. There are only so many things they can learn and experience in school, and good parents will create an environment that will enhance their kids’ knowledge and learning. You can take them to a nature reserve and enroll them to a summer camp where they can find out as much as they want to about the animal world and the ecosystems. The good news is that there are some local zoos that offer the same experience, so you will not even have to travel far.

Summer Courses

Apart from nature exploration camps, there are other courses available for kids to enjoy. You can take them horse riding, so they can improve their skills. Alternatively, you should look for language courses if you are traveling abroad. The younger your kids are, the more likely they are to pick up a new language at ease and to engage with the culture and the way of thinking. If you are spending the summer in a Spanish speaking country, it would be a waste not to enroll your kids to a summer course. Learn scuba diving, sailing, or surfing together, and you will have loads of fun, while adding to everyone’s skill set.

Learning Together

It is not only kids’ courses you should have your eyes open for. There are great family courses you can take part in, so you can all learn together. From exploring ancient civilizations to going on a trip down memory lane, you will have to find the one activity that everyone enjoys. Make it a family learning experience, so you can have fun and make use of the free time you have available.

Vacationing with Your Friends

There is nothing better than a big family holiday. If you don’t have enough people to spread the cost of a large villa rental, you can team up with your friends. It will be a much cheaper vacation if you are able to stay at the same place, and you might even take turns cooking and looking after the kids. If you would like to have some quality time, without having to worry about the kids all the time, you might want to choose this option.

Camping trips are great if you are willing to put up with the inconvenience and the unreliable weather. You can hire an RV or a campervan, maybe upgrade your accommodation to glamping or wooden lodges, so you can experience nature and take a break from your regular routine. You can teach your kids some essential skills during the trip, such as how to light a fire, cook in the open, or find your way around the forest paths. Take or hire a bike, and you can spend your days having a real conversation while exercising and having some fresh air.

Try A Family Festival

There are so many amazing festivals for families, so why not consider taking the family along to one this summer, if there are none near enough to your home, why not consider staying over, there are some fantastic festival glamping options, we adore camping but if you have never slept out in the open before, then glamping is certainly the way to go, lots of home comforts still to hand, but still experiencing the fantastic outdoors. After a fantastic day of entertainment, you are safe in the knowledge there will be a comfortable bed and a clean toilet to come back to.

Road Trips

You don’t even have to fly if you would like to make the most out of your summer. A road trip with your family will help you create memories and see a different place every day. The main benefit of a road trip is that you will see much more of the road and the small towns and villages than you would if you were flying. You will have the advantage of being able to stop whenever you want, and learn about the history of the place from locals.

In case you are already worried about what you will do with your kids when the summer break comes around, you should have a look at the above options and try to make the most out of every day.

  1. So many lovely ideas here to make the most of the summer! I can’t wait for the sun to shine more consistently. We went glamping this weekend for the first time as a family and we’ve fallen in love with the experience – it was so much fun 🙂

  2. We usually go to my nan in Torquay but I doubt that will be possible this year now I’m working full-time so it’s looking like a lot of days in parks, museums etc with the childminder this summer for my lot but I’ll make up for it in the October half-term!
