Galaxy Quick reads – Perfect for mums on the go

If, like me you used to read LOADS, you will appreciate how difficult it is to fit in the reading of any book that isn’t written for toddlers since having children!!

But, I think that I may have found the answer…

Galaxy Quick Reads are fabulous little books that condense fab stories into a tiny book, and at a great price too.

I was very lucky to be sent two of the latest Quick Reads and a very welcome bar of Galaxy to enjoy with them, unfortunately the children spotted the chocolate, so I did have to share it with them…

The first book I read was Red For Revenge by Fanny Blake.

Two women, one man: code red for revenge…

Maggie is married with two grown-up children. Her twenty-five year-old marriage to Phil has lost its sparkle.

Carla is widowed. She understands life is short so she lives it to the full. But is her new romance all that it seems?

When the two women meet in the beauty salon, they soon find they have more in common than the colour of their nails.

The discovery that they are sharing the same man is shocking. How will Phil be taught a lesson or two he won’t forget?

I read this in just over an hour, in between making dinner and stacking the dishwasher after (the dishwasher stack did take a little longer than normal – I had to make sure the pages didn’t get wet!!)

It was a great story and I would definitely recommend it, although I don’t want to give too much away…

The following evening, when there was nothing interesting on TV I tried  Out Of the Dark by Adele Geras.

Rob Stone comes back from the horrors of the First World War with a ruined face and a broken heart. Lonely, unable to forget the things he has seen, and haunted by the ghost of his dead captain, all that Rob has left is a picture of the captain’s family. Rob sets out to find them, hoping that by giving them the picture, he can bring peace to the captain’s ghost – and to his own troubled heart.

This one actually brought a tear to my eye, which is proof that fantastic stories can be written with very few chapters.

These books are perfect for the book lovers amongst you that really don’t have hours to spend reading large novels, but still need that story fix every once in a while.
