#Blogtober17 Day 4 – Date

I can’t wait to see what you all link up today, will it be a specific date in the calendar or will it be a particularly memorable date in your life, or, like me a more humorous look at REALLY bad dates you’ve been on…

They say you have to kiss a fair few frogs to find your prince, well I am pretty sure I kissed an entire pond!

To anyone who is reading this and recognises themselves, I am truly sorry, i’m sure you have made someone a wonderful husband!!

During high school I had one boyfriend, we were together from 13 to 16, but it was not to be, he was a lovely guy, but we just grew apart, the next was the driving instructor (you know about him from my last post) but after discovering he was a pretty crap driving instructor and i’m sure I wasn’t the only pupil he was giving extra lessons to, I binned him.

I then moved to sunny Norfolk and started work at a holiday camp, a couple of my friends (not sure I should even call them that) thought it was sad that I was all alone, and they would try and fix me up, now remember we didn’t have the internet then, or phones that had pictures (back in the old days) so they placed a singles ad in the local newspaper, which invited suitable males with the same interests to write me a letter (I know!) telling me all about themselves and include a picture, they were sent all secret to a PO Box address and then the newspaper would send them on to the lucky recipient (moi). Word of warning to any female thinking of joining a dating site DON’T DO IT!

(That’s not entirely true my sister met her husband on Go Fish and they have lived happily ever after)

My first date was arranged for a quiet drink at the pub opposite the holiday park, with strict instructions for my friend to casually stop by the pub at 10pm to see if I was still alive, she was convinced I would meet a serial killer (which is a bit odd as she set the entire thing up for me!!!) I waited for about 10  minutes and thought i’d been stood up, but I hadn’t it was just the ‘photo’ he had sent was definitely not him, so I had completely looked past him, eventually he introduced himself (I may have looked past him to see where his friend that I was meeting was!) It was awful, we had nothing in common and he was the most boring person I had ever met in my entire life, I think the entire date lasted about 30 minutes, I think it was a migraine that came on so suddenly, I really couldn’t stay longer!!

The second was pretty much the opposite, strangely he didn’t look like his picture either, but he would not stop talking, in fact I couldn’t get a word in edgeways, made even worse by the fact he suggested we go over the road to the holiday park as it was karaoke night (er, yes I know as it’s my only night off in the week, and that is who takes over whilst i’m not entertaining the children!) he didn’t quite take the hint that I really didn’t want to go over and I found myself sitting in my place of work (on my only night off) with a man that resembled Rik Moranis, but thought he was Rick Astley!! My work colleagues thought it was hilarious and I vowed I would NEVER have a blind date again!!

I never went on another blind date, no matter who my friends thought was my perfect date, and it just goes to show, that my actual soul mate was someone I had worked an entire summer behind a bar with x

So that’s my take on Date, what’s yours ?

  2. Oh dear it sounds like you had a few disasters before finding the right one, unfortunately we all have to do this. I went on a date once and we hardly spoke all night and then he pounced on me at the end of the night with the sloppiest kiss ever, we never went out again x

    • lol I had one like that too, but he may recognise himself 😉 He was the geekiest, quiet man at work, which then turned into an animal, it was most off putting!

  3. Wow, poor you! They do sound like funny memories to look back on though. My ‘date’ entry was also about a bad one…but it never fails to make me laugh.

  4. Gosh they sounds pretty awful! I met someone who loved motorbikes more than people, and another one who phoned his mum on our first date to say he’d met the person he was going to marry!!!!!

  6. Looking back i was actually pretty lucky in the dating department. It was always more of a double date situation or with someone that i already knew in my friendship circle so was never awkward.

  7. I never had a blind date, thankfully, but I did have a few awful ones. Like the time a guy took me to a Thai restaurant and there was nothing I could eat! And then one where the guy ended up driving us the wrong way down a dual carriageway!

  8. I can’t imagine ever having a blind date, and it sounds like I’m not missing out! I’ve only ever had two relationships, my sixth form boyfriend and my now-husband who I got together with in my second year of uni. I’m sure there were probably a few dodgy dates in there but only in a ‘skint teenagers’ way!!

  10. I also went on a date where my friend was keeping in touch via text. The date was going really well (I married the guy!!) and I forgot to text her so she drove to the pub to check on me! Luckily I texted her back before she walked through the door!!

  11. What holiday camp was it? We used to go to one every year when I was little. I have never had a blind date (thankfully) sounds a bit hit and miss although my friend found her husband on a dating site #blogtober17
