#Blogtober17 Day 20 – Teenagers

SO, Teenagers! I currently have three of them, with Kaide nearly there!  Xene is 19 and now settled into university life, although she is coming home for a short visit next week and I cannot wait! Lochlan is 17 and in his second year at college studying Games Development and Film & TV, he is unsure which of the two subjects he will pursue at university as he enjoys them both, and finally Neva who is 14 and currently in year 10, studying hard for her gcses, we had her parents evening last week and she is doing brilliantly, exceeding all of her targets, she has yet to decide what she would like to do career wise, although every teacher is pushing her to do their subject! Kaide is now 12 (the oldest in his year, but the smallest) he has just started high school and is way above all his targets too.
So, for those of you who don’t yet have teenagers, here is my helpful little list of what you can expect…
1. Some turn into Kevin before your very eyes (if you are too young to know what I am talking about google Kevin and Perry Go Large and you’ll see what I mean) I haven’t really had this, I get more attitude fro the 8 year old….
2. Their bedroom becomes their castle. They all spend huge amounts of time in their bedrooms, although it never seems super clean, so i’m guessing they don’t spend all that time cleaning!
3. They do not know how to use a telephone to communicate, unless it’s a mobile version and they can access facebook, snapchat, skype and text messages, but they do actually speak over games consoles…
4. They change their clothes an enormous amount of times, I have certainly have noticed the washing pile decreased since one of them is not here!
5. They spend lots of time in the bathroom, and use large amounts of bubble bath, shower gel and shampoo!
6. The girls have much larger wardrobes full of clothes, which is super handy when you are the same size, although both girls now have larger feet than me, so that’s not great!
7. The girls eat really healthily and watch what they eat, whereas the boys NEVER stop eating, no sooner have they finished a meal then they state “Whats to eat, i’m starving!” School holidays are the worst…
8. They have much better social lives than I do, I have to write them all on the calendar just to keep up, and mum is usually the taxi!
So, as you can see, it’s not that bad (or maybe i’ve just been lucky) they really are my best friends and I am counting down the days until Xene is home for a couple of days.

  1. Gosh, my threenager is being tough enough, I can’t imagine him actually being a teenager… suppose I’ve got 10 years to plan for it!

  2. I have to confess I am really not looking forward to the prospect of being the mum of two teenage boys! At least I’ve got another 9 years to get used to the idea 🙂
