#Blogtober17 Day 18 – Relaxation

Relaxing! What’s that….
No, i’m joking, of course I relax, if you count going to bed and sleeping! With seven children constantly needing something, there is never much time to relax, there are always one hundred other things that still need doing, having said that, if we don’t all take some time to relax, then it will definitely have a negative impact.
So, here are the things I like to do to relax.
A Nice Cup of Tea.
Every morning during the week, my alarm goes off at 6.50am, I come down the stairs and make myself a nice cup of hot tea, it’s the only one I probably drink hot throughout the day and it’s my 10 minutes of relaxation before the day begins.
A Good Book
I used to love reading, but haven’t had much time lately, I used to read lot whilst I was sitting breastfeeding when the children were young, now that Viggo is in preschool 4 days per week and they are all a little less demanding, I am hoping to get some more good books under my belt, the only problem is that when I read I become fully immersed in a book, and I could happily sit and read an entire book in a day, which isn’t great when you have to work and take care of children!
A Bit Of Cross Stitch or Sewing
When the older two were small I used to spend my evenings cross stitching, making little pictures for them or cushions for friends having babies. I have make christmas stockings for the five oldest children, I have two stockings ready to be made for Tyrus and Viggo, so I am hoping to get those done in time for this years festivities.
A Nice Warm Bath
We are halfway through fitting a new bathroom, although it has been put on hold at the moment due to the imminent arrival of Merrie, but we have fitted a very large and wonderful corner bath, so I now have the perfect place to relax with some nice smelling bubble bath and a bit of peace and quiet, the only downside is, the bath takes ages to fill, so I have to try and do it in secret, otherwise I will be joined by at least two of the children!
Going Out Walking
This is definitely something I am keen to start doing, and I am fully confident this will happen with the arrival of the puppy who will need walking, it doesn’t bother me what the weather is like, so long as I have the right clothes on!
How do you like to relax ?

  1. Ahh these all sound nice! I can’t remember when I last had a bath – a 5 minute shower is all I can manage and I’ve only got two kids!! I’m hoping to get back into cross stitch soon, haven’t done it since I was a teenager but I’ve been missing it so have bought a couple of Christmas mini kits. I like to read, knit and crochet, but as my youngest is a very bad sleeper I tend to opt for an early night instead!

  2. I always mean to get up before the kids and have 10 minutes peace and a hot cuppa, but when it comes to it I always decide on spending those extra 10 minutes in bed!
