#Blogtober16 Day 19 Ten Favourite Foods

October 19, 2016Mandi Morrison

So I am writing this on Tuesday evening, Asa is currently at rugby training, which means tonight is one of those in my busy schedule that I don’t eat until late, so all this talk of favourite foods is going to be challenging!

Here are mine

  1. Chinese – If you gave me a choice of anything to eat I would choose, Special Fried Rice, Mixed Sweet and Sour Balls, House Special Chow Mein and Chicken Chop Suey, with a side of Prawn Crackers!

  2. Melon – don’t mind what kind, I love them all!

  3. Chips from the Chip Shop, especially when they are frying new potatoes.

  4. Raspberry Pavlova – Has to be raspberry, we have one as a dessert choice on Christmas Day and not a year goes by, without some family member making a joke about me eating the entire thing (which, I probably could, given half the chance)

  5. Strawberries – I could clear an entire field of Pick Your Own, just to myself!

  6. Cheese and Apple – My favourite light lunch is a huge chunk of Cheddar Cheese and a sliced Red Delicious apple.

  7. Stew and Dumplings – Nothing better on a freezing cold snowy day to come home to a slow cooker full of steaming beef stew and hundreds of dumplings.

  8. 99 ice-cream – My favourite choice from the ice-cream van, the bigger the better!

  9. Meat Pudding – Made by my dad, it is THE best winter dinner ever, juicy tender beef encased in basically a giant dumpling!

  10. Indian – Before I met Asa I had never had an Indian, but I have become quite fond of the food in general, I don’t like it too hot and spicy, so a choice of Korma, Dopiaza, Passanda, Jalfrezi, either Chicken or Prawn, along with pilau rice, bombay potato, onion bhajis, poppadoms samosas and naan bread.

So, after all of that I am now going to wait and see what delights Asa brings me home from the shop tonight, i’m guessing it probably won’t be any of my top ten!

I’m with you on the Indian food. Growing up I never had any Indian food because my dad was seriously allergic to spices. Like he’d sneeze all day and the next if there was a tinge of pretty much any spice mixed into food. It wasn’t until I went off to college and got introduced to it by a few friends who came from India that I discovered it. Now, I can’t live without it.
