#Blogtober16 Day 16 Piercings and Tattoos!

October 16, 2016Mandi Morrison

Over half way, I am so impressed how many are still with me!

So today is about piercings and tattoos…

When I was 5 years old I DESPERATELY wanted my ears pierced, but no matter which jewellers my mum took me too (there were no Claires Accessories then!) they refused, saying I was either too old (they were happy to do them on a six month old baby, but not a sensible 5 year old) or I was too young, again happy to do it on a stroppy teenager but not me!

Thankfully in those days the health and safety police were not the same as now and I found a lovely market stall that happily obliged! I sat so very still and even when the gun went clunk and the burning sensation kicked in I sat proud as punch with my new earrings, my nan bought me a lovely pair of gold hoops, you can see them in my day 2 picture, and I wore nothing but that pair for years.

When I turned 10, I pleaded with my mum to let me have a second hole, which she agreed to, however I wasn’t counting on going away with school to the Isle of Wight and getting sand in it, resulting in an ear three times the size and my dad having to hold both sides of the stud with pliers to pull it out of my ear! Needless to say I didn’t wear earrings for quite a long time after that, however, not being deterred I had the ear re-pierced and all was fine for another 5 years (no idea why it was every five years I felt the need for a new ear piercing!) so at 15 I had three holes in my ears, they are all still there but it isn’t very often that I actually wear three pairs at once.

When I was 18/19 the latest craze was belly button piercing, I was going through a bit of a wild stage, mainly I think due to the fact that my nan (who bought me the gold earrings) had just passed away and I wasn’t dealing with it very well, so within a few weeks of each other I had my belly button pierced and I had a dolphin tattoo on my upper thigh.

When I became a grown up, well, when I became pregnant I removed the belly button piercing, and I haven’t worn anything since, although the hole is still there. I don’t regret any of my piercings or my tattoo, I am glad I chose just a small dolphin and it is in a place that I can cover it if I want to, gone are my days of skimpy bikinis!

So, there we have it, my piercing and tattoo story, what’s yours ?

It”S amazing to think that they did it at a market stall for you! How lovely your mum is for being supportive, I got mine done in secret and hid them for weeks from my parents!

I had my ears done in the local Jewellers, aged 7, with a nervous guy who hadn’t done it many times before. He managed to pierce one ear lower than the other, and to this day I can’t wear big studs as its so so obvious haha!

When I was younger I wanted my belly button piercing with a dolphin tattoo jumping over it. I’d forgotten that until I read this x

I really wanted my belly button pierced when I was younger, although 3 kids later no one gets to see my stomach! I think a little dolphin tattoo sounds very tasteful.

I had all my piercings done at a market stall as well. It was really cheap!
