Blogger Board Game Club – CodeNames

As part of the Blogger Board Game Club, our game for this month was Codenames, it is for 2-8 players aged 10+, so a perfect game to play with the teenagers, or  a group of adults.

Players split into two teams of similar size and skill, a standard game requires a minimum of 4 players (two per side).

Each team chooses a spymaster. 25 codenames are randomly placed on the table (5 x 5). The idea is to be the first team to contact all of their agents. The spymasters know the secret identities of 25 agents, but their teammates know them only by their codenames.

Our thoughts:

It was quite tricky to begin with, particularly for the 12 and 14 year old, but after a few games we all really got into it. I can imagine it would be great for a uni night in or an adult games evening. I am sure Xene will borrow this when she comes home for a visit, as they are always looking for new things to occupy themselves in the flat each evening.

The age range is slightly too low, for me I would say 12+ although if you have someone who is helping them, then it’s not too bad. Definitely  one for the family with older children.

Codenames is currently available on Amazon for £14.42 with Prime delivery.

We were sent the game as part of the Blogger Board Game Club, all thoughts and opinions are our own.
